On September 9th, 2008 Up Close Ministries will fly from San Diego, California to Kenya at the request of leaders in Kisii.  They have requested that we come and comfort the suffering people there, while bringing resources from America to help them.


 Food: Our team will attempt to take enough financial support to buy a large amount of dried food to deliver to the homes of shut-in's left to die of aids.  Our contacts will pre-order as much as possible and when we arrive we will make-up care packages and deliver them.

Vitamins and over-the-counter medicines: It has been requested that Up Close bring much needed vitamins and pain relievers to Kiisi.  This will help with nutritional needs as well as help for those who are in pain with aids.

Aids Education:  Up Close has been asked to present clinics on aids prevention and treatment.  Materials are being developed with the help of American nurses.  This information will be taught and the Kisii people encouraged in ways to stay aids free and to manage the symptoms if they are aids/hiv positive.

Training in self-support: DeBee has been making her own homemade natural soap for years and will take this skill to the women of Kisii.  They will be taught how to make soap for sanitation reasons and to promote the selling of it as a home business therefore enabling them to support their families.

Specific item needs: Up Close will purchase a moped for Peter (the Pastor) and a lap top for Gladys (Peter's wife).  These items will make it possible for them to do more for their own people and stay in touch with others that desire to help them.

Emotional/Spiritual Healing: Up Close will hold meetings to teach Biblical Truths that Emotionally Heal.  This will be done in an effort to help the people of Kisii to endure hardship and suffering against impossible odds.

Transportation: The air fare and ground transportation is a large part of the budget.  Please consider helping get the team to Kisii and around the area to help others.
